This is the first time the U.S. has dropped out of the top 20 happiest countries list since the report launched 12 years ago.

This is the seventh year in a row where Finland comfortably clinched the No.

Finland was followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Israel, and the Netherlands in that order.

All five Nordic countries are in the top 10.

Sitting at the bottom of the list at rank 143 is Afghanistan.
