Millennialshave been the internets favorite punching bag for years.
And just when it seems to die down, another trend pops up to drag them again.
Well, theyre kind of like the middle childalways there, but often overlooked.
No matter what we do, it seems like we cant escape these stereotypes.
The idea of categorizing generations has been around for about a century.
In 1910, only 14% of teens between 14 and 17 were in school.
By 1940, that number had jumped to 73%.
Menand argued that this shift helped create the modern teenagera brand-new social category that marketers could target.
Fun fact: the book even coined the term millennial.
And the complaints barely change.
Naturally, younger generations fire back with their own criticisms.
Honestly, its just in our nature.
The only difference now?
We have official labels to argue overand that probably isnt changing anytime soon.
